Diplomatic and consular law

Diplomats are persons appointed by their states who represent their state vis-à-vis Germany and other states under international law. This special role grants diplomats special rights, which in principle also apply to their family members and employees. These privileges apply to diplomats in each state, but the national laws of each state have different laws. It can happen that an act or omission by a diplomat violates national laws and would therefore be illegal or even punishable if the same act were done by a normal citizen.

Foreign diplomats in Germany have to adhere to the laws of the Federal Republic. We advise and investigate whether an act or omission by foreign diplomats violates German and international laws and whether a fine or a fine can be imposed in the event of a violation and whether such punitive measures can be enforced.
